Eskimo Joe's 35th Anniversary!

So on July 4th we took some out of town guests to Eskimo Joe's Resturant.  The world famous college resturant and bar.  This happened to be Eskimo Joe's 35th annviersary  month of being in business.  It also was our 35th anniversary.  So while at the resturant my husband met the owner Stan Clark and told him it was our anniversary.  Stan sent over to our table his world famious chili cheese fries.

Later after lunch Stan had his grandchildren deliver to us 35th anniversary t-shirts.  It was an awesome surprise.  Eskimo Jose's is second in most popluar resturants next to Hard Rock Cafe which is number one.  Stan Clark own's 3 Joe's resturants in Stillwater, Eskimo Joe's, Mexico Joe's and Joseppi's resturant.  People from all over the world come to Joe's.  President Bush endorced the resturant too.  Joe's has famous Joe's shirts which can be seen everywhere around the world.  These t'shirts make great conversation pieces and brings people together just remembering the fun they had at college.  My daughter met someone in Germany and was able to connect to other American just by spotting the common Eskimo Joe's shirt.  Amazing connections.

I've never met a business owner so genious in their giving to other people just for celebrating their anniversary.  This was very impressive to me.

Thirtyfive Years Ago Today!

Thirtyfive years ago today I married my best friend, that is my closest male friend.  I meet my love from my best girlfriend who lived next door at 15.  My love was my girlfriend's brother-in-law, so we all kept it in the family.  The only friend from those years I still see is this girlfriend and her family. We all hung around together and have so many memories when we were just kids. So actually I've known my husband for a total of  39yrs.

There so so many funny memories of those years, like how he made my girlfriend and I pay for gas just to go anywhere and then gas was cheap.  We each had to give him a $1 to take us to the gas station for cigarettes.   How about all the times we, several of our friends, and my gf dad took us camping, and one time we got stuck on the railroad tracks and a train was coming.  How about the time I stood him up when he arrived to take me on a date in his nice red '64 mustang, just because I didn't want to go out with him that day.  We were so mean at times to each other, but not really,  just occasionally. At times he acted like my big brother rather than a boyfriend, and that got on my nerves. jk!

We also spent many days car pooling together as we worked at the amusement park called Six Flags over Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA.  I remember when he came back home from TX, when he was in the Army, for his sister's back surgery and we went everywhere together.  I even gave him a couple of  little trinkets of mine so he wouldn't forget me when he went into the Army.  I guess he never forgot me.  Hehe.

We have 3 wonderful children, 8 grandkids and 1 great granddaughter.  And I still love this man, even more than I did when I first married him.  We renewed our wedding vows on our 15th anniversary, with family and friends as they were not able to be there for the orginial wedding.

Our first date was at Disneyland in California, with his brother's family and now for our 35th anniversary we will be going to Disneyworld for the first time in Florida with our daughter's family.  You think we never do anything alone but we do, since all the kids are grown we have lots of time alone.  Now we enjoy spending times with the family.  The best times are though  with one family at a time.

I tell people all the time if you can't marry your best friend who can you marry.  Obviously it has worked since we are married for 35yrs today.

34th Annversary Getaway!

For our 34th anniver- sary, we choose to stay close to home and go to the remodeled Bricktown. Bricktown canal and scenery was modeled after San Antonio's Riverwalk and began the remodel in 1993. Now Bricktown is no way as grand as the Riverwalk but it comes very close. It has gained the tourist that the city hope to gain with the remodel. We've been down to Bricktown before but not alone with out all the family.

Friday night we went out to Olive Garden and had a nice evening there. Saturday we went antiquing at local thrift shops and found some great finds. Now this was not my husband's idea but mine, but after 34 yrs he just does things at times to make me happy. He's such a good sport. Then in the evening we went down to the canal and rode the water taxi at Bricktown.

There are lovely sites to see along the canal including larger than life iron statues of pioneers and 2 mini water falls.

After dinner we went across the street to the 14th annual Reggae Festival. It was so much fun. People of all cultures were there. The funny thing was that the older adults were in the middle of the crowd with chairs. The men sat and watched while most of the women danced. The younger crowd were up at the stage being regular groupies. We were there for only 2 band groups but the ones we heard were singing songs about "Jah", God, and about treating your wife or lady as a queen. It was really awesome, I never thought they would be singing about God at a Reggae Festival.

For the romantic interlude we rode the adult water taxi cruise. Meet a newly wed couple and some service men with dates. It was a fun night. We rode the water taxi 3 times that day.

Sunday we went to Church and ran into my niece who lives in another town but was visiting her friends at the same church. Sometimes its just a small world after all!

Then we were off to check out Bass Pro Shop, that place is totally amazing. It's like the great outdoors only inside.
