Revamping Vintage Aprons

Some vintage aprons can stand alone and some can use a little restyling.
Here are two aprons I have taken and revamped into the Shabby Chic style.

Mustard yellow handkerchief bottom apron.

Here I added orange satin ribbon to trim the bottom of this apron and around the pocket.
I included a crochet doily and a removable orange and green felt flower.

Simple orange/peach and beige checked apron

I restyled this apron by shortening this by about 2 inches.   I added cream pompom trim around bottom and cream lace around the waistband.  I included a cream crochet doily pocket which is trimmed with orange ribbon and orange and white felt flower and beige button center.

Recycling One Man's Shirt

I have become a fan of recycling clothing lately.  My latest project is to see how many items I can get out of  one man's dress shirt.  First I made a halter apron.  I had all these scraps left over and just don't like to waste or through away anything.  So I decided to brainstorm and come up with ideas to use my scraps.  I came up with the cuff bracelets, and then collars, I made two collar.  Next I made a rosette to add to a headband.  There an now only small pieces of cloth left.  I think I did rather well in creating unique and usable items.

My First Fair Competition

This year was my first year to enter into the Payne County Fair.  Year after year I see the flier and brochure about the fair but have never entered an item.  I always thought one of these years or even thought oh well I will never win.  But this year I was encouraged by friends to enter the fair and just see if you might win.  And to my surprise I did win a few ribbons.

My rainbow polka dot and heart apron won 1st place ribbon.

My scripture handkerchief won 2nd place.

My Victorian cuffs won 3rd place

My shirt apron won 4th place.

My snow leopard tote won 5th place

I am so blessed and impressed I won these ribbons for my handy work.  Its great to get sales but its just quite rewarding to place and win ribbons for your work too.
