Precious Memories

Every February around Valentine's day is the Father-Daughter dance. They seem to be held in every city these days.  My granddaughter LaRyn's dad was away at school so he could not take her again this year.  So papa was to take her. We weren't sure my other granddaughters were going to be able to go with there dad locally so papa took three his granddaugthers who lived close to us to the dance.

These are the memories they will never forget.  A special night with papa, a night of memories of dancing and a dinner date.  So sweet!

Child's Play

About a month ago a friend mentioned how she would like to have ribbon streamers for worship.  I thought that is a great idea.  Not only is it good for worship but children love to play with ribbons for dance, gymnastic and just all aroun fun.  So here are my verison of this upbeat ribbon streamers.  I've added beads to make them more eye appealing and more worship elegant.  Some will have bells too for tingling in the wind.

Finger Flags

My new inspiration is finger flags.  This personal flag could have many names: finger flag, dance scarf, worship flag, prayer flag, etc.  The main point is that this flag was created as form of worship to our Lord.  When you wave a flag in the air its a form of expression, whether its victory, surrender or conquer, it is a form of expression.

In this world there is good and evil and heaven and hell.  There is God and Satan.  Everything God created Satan has a counterfeit.  God created us to worship him and him alone.  The problem came when Satan wanted to be God and wanted to be worshipped.  Because there is only one God, Satan could not have the divine role of ruler of all of creation and the heavens.  So Satan was expelled to the earth to rule it and lead others astray and to follow him instead of God.

Now because Satan is the ruler of the atmosphere we are at war with him to live justly and righteously free from sin.  But of course Satan doesn't like this so the battle is on as to who will gain the people's souls of this world.

This is why we are at war with him and must fight to stay free from him and free from sin and death.  As soliders of the cross we must raise our weapons of warfare and fight the enemy.  We raise our swords- the word of God, we raise our shields of faith and raise our flags of war against our enemy.

In the bible the words banners, flags, and standards are used interchangeably.
STANDARD: Hebrew word: Degal #1714 daw-gal' to flaunt, a flag, banner, standard.  Be conspicuous, chiefest.

BANNER: #5251 Nace: a flag, a signal, sign, standard. From #524 to gleam from afar. to be conspicuous as a signal to raise up a banner.

Heb./Greek dictionary:  A banner used at the top of a pole to mark a rallying point in battle or to serve as an emblem.

*Num. 2:2  The Isrealites each camped with a standard under a banner.
*As we raise our standards and banners we are...awesome as an army with banners.  SS.6:4
*Proclaim and lift up a standard proclaim and do not conceal it.  Jer.50:2
*We do not wrestle with flesh and blood but against principalities and rulers of darkness.  Eph. 6:12 *And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:  Ex. 17:15
Jehovahnissi- Jehovah/God is our banner, or God is our flag!

As you see I have many colors available because God loves colors and each color has different meanings and are mentioned as such when the temples were built and when God expressed how the priests were to be dressed too.

Here are some of the meanings of various colors.
COLORS AND THEIR MEANINGS:

RED: love, war, passion, blood, fire
WINE: mercy, blessing
PINK: hope, love, passion, glory
FUSHIA (hot pink): joy, love, compassion, boldness

YELLOW: joy, celebration, healing
ORANGE: praise, harvest, fire, passion

Light BLUE: peace, heaven, heavenlies
Medium BLUE: life, healing, water, faith, trust, loyality
Dark BLUE: truth, grace
TURQUOISE: healing, river, life

GREEN: prosperity, growth, life

PURPLE: royality, strength, power, victory
LAVENDER: grace

WHITE: purity, perfection, righteousness,hope, peace
IVORY: beauty, angel wings

SILVER/gray: redemption, wisdom
GOLD: glory, mercy

I hope this clarifies things for those of you who do not understand the use of flags in the church or in our prayer time at home.

Be at peace and go with God!

Papa Goes to the Father-Daughter Dance

Saturday was the annual Father-Daughter dance in Lawton, OK. My granddaughter LaRyn didn't have a date because her daddy was away at a school so she asked her Papa to take her to the dance. Of course he said yes.

Now when our girls where little there was no event called the Father-Daughter dance. So my girls missed out and so did my husband. Lasting memories were made as this was papa's only chance to take a granddaughter to a dance.

He did get the opportunity to dance with his daughters at their weddings, but it would have been fun to take them to a dance when they were little too.

Cute pose of LaRyn and Papa before the dance.

Princess LaRyn adjusting her tiara.

Papa doing the limbo. He was such a good sport to participate because he doesn't like to dance in the first place but to do the Limbo and then fall was too funny.

New Dance Game Fun

My daughter came to visit and brought her dance game. Oh my gosh is it fun and its great for the whole family. It sure is more fun than my Dancing with the Stars. This puts my game to shame. My next game is to get a dance revolution for the Wii so I can have this much fun all the time. It's really a good work out. The only one not interested is my hubby he rather golf with Tiger Woods for the Wii.

New Project

I have a new custom order from my Zumba instructor to make finger flags. This project will be for 30 finger flags in various colors to use while dancing in our Zumba class. This cute little flags can be used also by children to dance around the house, at church or where ever. They are the perfect size to fit in your purse to use where ever. They are the size of a hankie, 10 X10 and have a loop for your finger so you can wave it. For those who attend church will the freedom to worship they can be used at church. After I finish the project I will be including some in my shop.

Zumba Summer Fun!

We have so much fun at our Zumba class. Our instructor is always looking for ways to make it even be more fun. So on some Saturdays we have themed Zumba days.

(Beth, our instructor, and I love to go all out in costume!)

For those of you who don't know what Zumba is I will share a little. Zumba is an aerobic exercise class that is mixed with dance to make it more fun and so you don't feel like you are really exercising. It can include Salsa, Merengue, Hip Hop, Belly dance, Tropical Rhythm.

This last Saturday was Summer Fun so we thought of Hawaiian Hula!

Here is the group that showed up for our Summer Fun Day.

Zumba and the Wheel-A-Thon

Today was the Wheel-A-thon for the Children's Museum. Stillwater is in need of a Children's Museum and to raise funds they decided to have wheel-a-thon which including bikes, scooters, wagons and even Zumba. Here I am with my instructor Beth who is also a middle school teacher.

Zumba is the latest craze for getting physically fit doing dance moves which include, Salsa, Merengue , hip hop, belly dancing and even can have western line dancing. I did not like the traditional aerobic workouts but I love to dance so Zumba was the answer for me. It's so much fun its like not working out at all. Here we are at the wheel-a-thon getting our grove on!

I've included a video so you can learn more in formation about Zumba so you too can see Zumba in action. Just maybe you might want to find a Zumba class near you and get in shape or just have fun.
