Grands and Summer Fun!

Here is LaRyn and Alex posing with me.

So this summer I have my grandkids sharing their days with me.    Well, I found something that my granddaughters like to watch together is Glee.  I heard about the show from visiting my son. He shared how his daughter and her friends watch Glee.  So I decided to see what the show was about.  Since I have  Netflix I was able to start at the beginning with the pilot show.  Now, my granddaughters and I are addicted to catching up on this series.   Too funny, I never thought I would like this show, but one of my two favorite passions is singing and dancing.  And Glee covers both.

This also reminds me of another show called FAME that I used to watch with my daughters about students and the arts.  They are very similar but Glee has a lot more song and dance.  I look forward to finding  things to do together with them with them.  They also love swimming and crafting but haven't gotten them to craft much this summer they are busy entertaining each other with their once song and dances.  I need to record them.  This will be great memories as my own children made lots of home movies of singing and dancing.  But we didn't produce any real artistic talent but at least its always been fun to watch.

I also got addicted to Drop Dead Diva.  Funny when you are home sewing and spending time with the grands what you end up watching especially when your cable channels are limited.  I know we could up grade but it would only cost more money to do so.  And Netflix is a great price for entertainment.  ha ha!

Another thing I love about my granddaughters is I never have to get a pedicure because  two of them love to give them.  I have the best painted toe nails in town.  It's awesome!

Where's Gail's Aprons?

Last month I entered an apron contest. It's was called Black & White. So you were to create any kind of apron but needed to be the colors of black and white. The contest I entered was by Tie One On.

All though I didn't win it was a fun challenge to just enter. Go on over and check out all the lovely aprons created. I entered two aprons but they are not listed under Heart & Sow Designs but under my first name Gail. See if you can find my aprons.

For the complete viewing of all the aprons go here to the gallery.

Salsa Ball 2009

Last night was the Salsa Ball in Stillwater, with live Latin Music and dancing. It was loads of fun. I do know the basic salsa steps from Zumba but my poor hubby just could not get it down. So we danced alright but nothing Latin other than my little hip swinging. Hopefully we can get in some more practice before we go again. But I have to admit my husband was such a good sport to even take me, since he does not like to dance at all. I rarely get a chance to go out so I was not going to pass this night up.

For your enjoyment here are some of the fun moves my husband made at the ball. Now you can see what I was up against but you've just got to love his sense of humor!

We got a Wii

My husband decided to buy us a wii on Friday. We got the sports version. It's so much fun. We had some of the grandkids over and they just had a blast. At first they thought Nana and Papa are too old for one. Then when we played with them they realized that we were not too old. Kids are so funny.

Wii is the only game my husband and I even considered buying because its the only game that you are actively involved and not just sitting on your bottom. I bowled with 3 of my gradkids from 11-7. Wii makes you feel like you are right at the bowling alley. All the games are so fun and you can get physically exhausted from playing. Wii is a great family game and I would recommend it to anyone you has children or grandkids. Heck tonight, only adults are home and we are still playing.

Low Fat Pita Pizzas Recipe

Ingredients
•8 regular pita bread rounds(not pocket type)
•2c tomato sauce(1 15oz.can) mixed with
•1-2tsp pizza seasoning or Italian seasoning
•8-16oz. ground turkey meat mixed with
•2-3tsp pizza seasoning or Italian seasoning
•1/4c water
•1/2 small onion,minced(optional
•8 good sized mushrooms, thin sliced (optional
•8-16oz. shredded mozzarella cheese
•1c sliced black olives(optional)
•veg. oil spray

Directions
1.Preheat oven to 425 . Lay pitas on a cookie sheet big enough to hold them in a single layer(use 2 if needed). Mix tomato sauce wit pizza seasoning, set aside. Spray a non-stick fry pan with veg oil spray, add ground turkey, breaking it up as you add to pan. Cook over med-high heat until all the pinkness is gone and it is getting a bit brown(ground turkey never gets really brown and crispy). Sprinkle with pizza seasoning, mix well, add water, mix again and let simmer-the turkey meat will absorb the water during about 5 mins of cooking time over med-high heat.
2.Spread each pita with about 1/4c of sauce. Sprinkle with diced raw onion, sliced mushrooms,or black olives as desired. Sprinkle with cooked turkey, top with an even layer of mozzarella cheese.
3.Cook in preheated oven for 20-25 mins until cheese is bubbly and brown. Check after 15 mins as ovens do vary.

These recipe came from Group Recipes
http://www.grouprecipes.com/73991/low-fat-pita-pizzas.html

In my recipe I use lean ground beef and instead of tomato sauce I use a jar of spaghetti sauce. Very taste and easy to put together on a lazy night.

Zumba Summer Fun!

We have so much fun at our Zumba class. Our instructor is always looking for ways to make it even be more fun. So on some Saturdays we have themed Zumba days.

(Beth, our instructor, and I love to go all out in costume!)

For those of you who don't know what Zumba is I will share a little. Zumba is an aerobic exercise class that is mixed with dance to make it more fun and so you don't feel like you are really exercising. It can include Salsa, Merengue, Hip Hop, Belly dance, Tropical Rhythm.

This last Saturday was Summer Fun so we thought of Hawaiian Hula!

Here is the group that showed up for our Summer Fun Day.

Elton John Eat Your Heart Out!

Today we had to make another run to the party store. Of course my grandkids found something else they had to try on "glasses"!

Elton John was famous for his music but also his many pairs of funny and silly glasses. Well, my two grandkids had the pick of the litter sort of speak.

So here are their cute finds. There are too many to post so here are the best of the best. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
