New Photography Adventure!

I have decided to take up photography.  I always took pictures but with just haste and for the moment.  Now I am working towards a style and purpose.  My goal is to take pictures of children in vintage costumes.  I will experiment with other types of pictures too but want to do this professionally too.  Its another form of art that I have fell in love with.  When you have a goal and vision you look at things with new eyes and look at the whole picture not just the person or thing shooting.

Revamping Vintage Aprons

Some vintage aprons can stand alone and some can use a little restyling.
Here are two aprons I have taken and revamped into the Shabby Chic style.

Mustard yellow handkerchief bottom apron.

Here I added orange satin ribbon to trim the bottom of this apron and around the pocket.
I included a crochet doily and a removable orange and green felt flower.

Simple orange/peach and beige checked apron

I restyled this apron by shortening this by about 2 inches.   I added cream pompom trim around bottom and cream lace around the waistband.  I included a cream crochet doily pocket which is trimmed with orange ribbon and orange and white felt flower and beige button center.

Reinventing Myself

Sometimes I think when someone is over 40 they decide they want to do something different with their life, style, or even rethink who they are and how they want to express themselves. I think this idea has been developing in me for a time now and I have finally decided to act upon it.

Lately,  I have been thinking about my style and what I wear. I think it started with me designing headbands to match my aprons, which are vintage styled.  I made retro scarf headbands and with these I decided I wanted to wear them myself too because they look so cute.  But I only made myself  two and the faze didn't last long.

About a couple of  weeks ago I came across a blog called "Reinvent Yourself."  And I thought this is it, I want to reinvent myself.  What a novel idea, try something new, have fun with life and try a new style.  I love the vintage clothing and the fun of  dressing up, so this could be an all new style, a new me.

Since I love vintage and make vintage styled aprons and headbands, I have decided on the rockabilly style of  40's to 50's fashion era.  I just love the look and how fun and flirty the style can be.  Here I have posted some of my fashion attempts of rockabilly.  I do have capris and tight jeans too,  but right now its so hot I don't wear them much and stick to more dresses than anything.

Most women who wear the rockabilly look wear those pretty spiked heels but at my age I have feet problems so I can't wear those and wear either flats or small heels that are a vintage styled.  I think I'm still making the look work with the shoes I have.  Tell me what you think.

My latest creation is an retro red bandana with a bow for your hair.

This bow is bigger than the top bow and it is all red and no black in the bow.

New Vintage Halter Apron

I just love vintage sheets and the cute designs on them. So I decided to make a darling halter apron with some sheets. I made a totally reversible apron that is as cute on the front side as the back side. Frankly, I can't even tell which is the front or back. LOL This is how it turned out.

Bust here is Navy with flowers, skirt turquoise blue daisies and light blue waistband.

This is the reverse side with the Turquoise blue daisies on the bust and the navy and flower on the skirt. The waist band is the same light blue.

It's waiting for a home at my shop.
