Men in Aprons
I just was browsing on Flickr and realize that 3 of my men's aprons were chosen to be in a gallery of "Men in Aprons." Apparently, Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores decided to make up a gallery of men in aprons. I feel honored to be apart of Jo-Ann's gallery. Mine are the green camo, grey camo and the chili pepper aprons!

Picking fabrics
How does one pick fabrics for making aprons or anything else? It all lies in the eye of the beholder. One persons tastes may not be anothers. That is why there are so many different styles and fashions and choices to be made.
Now somethings I can see visually and other times I need to see things all laid out together. Take yesterday, my husband was talking about putting rod iron fencing with wood posts. Now I could not see how it went together so he took me to Lowe's and showed me pictures and low and behold it can be done. But it was not with white painted posts and black rod iron but with natural wood posts and black rod iron. That is why I could not see putting it on my front porch, since I have white wood posts.
Now fabrics is another thing. I can look at some fabric, raw, in other forms such as curtains, table clothes and clothing and see how it would look cute in an apron. I guess its just what you have an eye for.
Look at this:
This was once a curtain valance and when I saw it I just knew it would look great as an apron.
This apron was an table cloth in its former life.
Picking fabrics is all in a matter of taste and also thinking beyond yourself and your tastes to think of what others might like as well.

What is organza?
Many times people shop and buy items and not really know what type a fabric is made of and the uniqueness of the fabric. Today I've chosen to tell you about organza since it is what several vintage aprons are made of.

Originally a lightweight silk fabric, organza is a plain weave that is created using nylon, polyester, and silk or a blend of any of the three which results in a translucent look. Nowadays, though many organzas are woven with synthetic filament fibers such as polyester or nylon, the most luxurious organzas are still woven in silk.
Chinese organza is still often made completely from silk filaments. Italian and French organza is generally sturdier and often includes nylon filaments as a blend with the silk. Organza produced in India and the United States often uses a mixture of nylon and polyester to create usable organza that is both cost effective and smooth to the touch.

Organza has a number of uses around the house. They are great for window treatments, adding a romantic touch to the bedroom by applying as a netting over the bed, draping over lap shades and suspending and draping over the walls. Make sure to use the lamps that have low wattage so that the organza doesn't burn. They also can be used as room dividers too.

When it comes to attire, organza is a staple of formal dresses and other feminine wardrobe items. Wraps that are overlaid with organza can produce a sophisticated look that will draw many admiring eyes. My Vintage Fabric Finds
Today I went to my local upscaled recylced shops and thrift stores.
I have been admiring my friend Sherry Marrero's finds and just thought I needed to check them out too.
I had bought and used thrift fabric finds before I ran across Sherry's blogs, but after seeing her wonderful finds it inspired me to go back and check them out for myself.
(Rose applique curtians)I get so excited buying fabric and thinking about what I might make with it. It so thrilling and enticing. I would much rather buy fabric than anything else.
(Rose basket table cloth)I didn't find any cool sheets but found fabrics, and table cloths that could make lovely aprons.

The thrill of creating things is something someone just has to experience and to really understand how a crafter can get so excited just purchasing mediums in the raw.

Backyard BBQ
Some men spend lots of time grilling at the backyard BBQ and keeping clean is easy with a an apron. I have newly listed this green camo apron.
I also have fabric in various prints that make great aprons for men. If you don't see a print you are interested in let me know and I will try to find it. All fabrics here are 100% cotton and are machine washable and dryable.

What Are My Choices?
I have many customers requesting custom orders for aprons but not sure what style they want. I have a few choices to help them in there selection of their apron.
The chef apron is a classic bib apron with ties around the neck and below the waist ties. My aprons are a standard one size fits most. I can lengthen them or shorten them and also widen them too.
The BBQ apron is my typical man's apron I created which is trimmed with bias tape and has 3 large wrap around pockets. It is wider and longer than the chef apron. This apron is a favorite for many customers for grilling.
For a little flirty fun I have created the heart apron, its my own style and makes a girl feel feminine and pretty.
My retro apron is trimmed with rick rack and two toned colors. One color for the apron and an accent color for the ties and pockets.
Halter aprons are almost like a dress, some are fully reversable too. They are the perfect apron for a summer BBQ or for a hostessing a party.
For a very traditional apron and those who want to keep more of their clothes clean I have a cobbler apron. This apron has a full front and back and ties at the sides. It also has a double pocket in the front.
I have designed a fun party apron for those costume parties or those intimate parties of two.
As you see I have many apron choices for you to choose from. These aprons can be altered for your special needs and also if you would like a certain fabric print I will try my hardest to find it.
