Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead Review

My daughter is in college and taking a biology course which requires her to write a report, so for this report I believe she is writing about nutrition. One of the documentaries she watched for the report was called Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. She told me its was informative and I need to watch it.  So me who is into health and nutrition decided to watch it.

This was a very inspiring movie about foods we eat and how the foods affect out health. Joe Cross is to sick that he's practically dead and decides to find a way to get better. His solution is juicing using fresh fruits and vegetables. He eats nothing for 10 days but drinks these green juice drinks for 10 days and looses weight and gets better and healthier than ever before.

This is so inspiring that all my children choose to juice for better health. Now my son already juices and eats healthier. My daughters and I don't juice but now have decided to start juicing too.

I like how in my immediate family we are all try to exercise more and eat healthier that is all accept for my husband and son-in-law, who never ate much at all any fruits or vegetables growing up.  I think the key here is to get our children to eat healthier when they are young so they will continue this pattern in adulthood.  It is very hard to get grown men or even women to change their eating habits as adults.

I don't know why many men are stuck on their junk food diets that they refuse to eat healthy.  I even know male medical doctors who have this issue too.  The wives will take the plunge and try to eat better but many men will not.

I hope you will watch this documentary and learn some valuable information and make better choices in life! This is available to watch on Netflix and maybe even at your local video store.

TO YOUR HEALTH!

This morning as I read the Word I came across the ideal woman that so many of us need to look up too. I too fall very short of this but will work diligently to aspire to be this lovely devoted woman. This year along with getting fit physically I'm going to work on getting fit mentally too.

Picking fabrics

How does one pick fabrics for making aprons or anything else? It all lies in the eye of the beholder. One persons tastes may not be anothers. That is why there are so many different styles and fashions and choices to be made.

Now somethings I can see visually and other times I need to see things all laid out together. Take yesterday, my husband was talking about putting rod iron fencing with wood posts. Now I could not see how it went together so he took me to Lowe's and showed me pictures and low and behold it can be done. But it was not with white painted posts and black rod iron but with natural wood posts and black rod iron. That is why I could not see putting it on my front porch, since I have white wood posts.

Now fabrics is another thing. I can look at some fabric, raw, in other forms such as curtains, table clothes and clothing and see how it would look cute in an apron. I guess its just what you have an eye for.

Look at this:

This was once a curtain valance and when I saw it I just knew it would look great as an apron.

This apron was an table cloth in its former life.

Picking fabrics is all in a matter of taste and also thinking beyond yourself and your tastes to think of what others might like as well.

Self Medication or Prescription Medicine?

Hum, let me see, is it wise to self medicate or is it better to get prescription medicine from your doctor? I believe that when someone is highly stressed or depressed he needs some outside help to make wise decisions in regards to his health and well being.

Ultimately, I believe when someone is stressed they need to seek God for answers and help them to remain calm and help them make good rational decisions. But for some people they need physical help along with spiritual help.

Turning to drugs and alcohol are not the answer to life's problems. These things gives a person a false since of hope and helps them to make irrational decisions.

According to the Wikipedia encyclopedia: Self-medication is the use of drugs or self-soothing forms of behavior to treat a perceived or real malady. Self-medication is often referred to in the context of a person self-medicating, in order to alleviate their own distress or pain.

Some mental illness sufferers attempt to correct their illnesses by use of certain drugs. Depression is often self medicated with alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, or other mind-altering drug use. While this may provide immediate relief of some symptoms such as anxiety, it may evoke and/or exacerbate some symptoms of several kinds of mental illnesses that are already latently present, and may lead to addiction/dependence, among other side effects of long-term use of the drug.

Alcohol and sedative/hypnotic drugs, such as barbiturates (depresants or downers) and benzodiazepines (antianxiety drugs), are central nervous system (CNS) depressants, which produce feelings of relaxation, and sedation, while relieving feelings of depression and anxiety. Alcohol also lowers inhibitions, while benzodiazepines are anxiolytic. Though they are generally ineffective antidepressants, as most are short-acting, the rapid onset of alcohol and sedative/hypnotics softens rigid defenses and, in low to moderate doses, provides the illusion of relief from depressive affect and anxiety.

Self medicating with benzodiazepines or alcohol often make the symptoms of anxiety worse. Approximately half of patients attending mental health services for conditions including anxiety disorders such as panic disorder or social phobia are the result of alcohol or benzodiazepine dependence. Sometimes anxiety pre-existed alcohol or benzodiazepine dependence but the alcohol or benzodiazepine dependence act to keep the anxiety disorders going and often progressively making them worse.

Knowing all this information helps or should help people realize that when it comes to drugs it needs to be given with doctors orders so a person can get the right help needed with the right doses and the right type of medicine for the person's particular problem. Laymen or women do not have enough knowledge to make a rational decision to relieve the pain one is carrying on their own.

If things are too stressful, and at times we all have stresses, please seek counselling, doctors and ministers to help you cope with overwhelming issues and don't self medicate.

Divorce is it an option?

So many people have an opinion on whether or not one can get a divorce if they are a Christian. My opinion is yes they can. I do take marriage very seriously as I have been married 34 yrs to a wonderful man. Was every day of our marriage wedded bliss? No, of course not but we have strived to put God first and to constantly work on our marriage.

I've researched about divorce more readily because of family members who are debating this issue. In the bible it quotes that there are reasons that God can understand a person wanting to divorce. One was for infidelity and the other for abuse.

I Corthians 5:11 You are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people.
Here is where I see that divorce is acceptable. When a spouse is involved in sexual sins, abusive, a drunkard, or drug addict.

Growing up with an alcoholic abusive father was never easy and in fact very scary. I prayed and I prayed and so did my mother that my father would change but little did I know that in order for a person to change they have to want it too. All the prayers in the world can not change man's own will. God gave us a will and so we have free choice and we must at times accept that in order for a person to change he must want to do it too.

Does that mean we are to stop praying, no. We continue to pray and hope that some day that the person's heart will soften so God can work on them.

Saying all this because I feel too many people fall back into the idea because we are Christians we must accept bad behavior and stay in marriages that are painful, abusive and destructive, or stay because of children. I feel staying for the children isn't a good reason. If there is constant fighting and bickering what does that teach the children and how does that help them? Children need a home where there is love and peace and respect for each other and not badgering, belittling, arguing and fighting.

I'm thankful that in today's society we have Domestic Violence for the abused. I say abused because many men are abused just like the women are, its just few cases. Abuse comes in many forms; its not all physical its also mental, verbal and emotional abuse as well. In some marriages I see wives verbally belittle their husbands and then they wonder why their marriage doesn't work. Marriage is not 50-50 but its where each person must give 100% of themselves to make it work.

Yes, God hates divorce but he allows it in certain circumstances too.
For I hate divorce!” says the Lord, the God of Israel Mal. 2:16

Suppose a man marries a woman but she does not please him. Having discovered something wrong with her, he writes her a letter of divorce, hands it to her, and sends her away from his house. When she leaves his house, she is free to marry another man Deu. 24:1,2
(This above passage was a law given by Moses)
Jesus said: “You have heard the law that says, ‘A man can divorce his wife by merely giving her a written notice of divorce.’ But I say that a man who divorces his wife, unless she has been unfaithful, causes her to commit adultery. Matt. 5:31
There are six things the Lord hates—
no, seven things he detests:
haughty eyes (pride),
a lying tongue,
hands that kill the innocent,
a heart that plots evil,
feet that race to do wrong,
a false witness who pours out lies,
a person who sows discord in a family. Proverbs 6:16-19

Here we see that God hates other things besides divorce. So many people tell me that God only hates divorce and that is not true. The only unpardonable sin is blasmphemy against the Holy Spirit. All other sins are forgivible.

Matthew 12:31-32 says, "And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
In life we must make our choices wisely, and we must think things through before we marry. When we are already in a bad marriage we need to go to counseling when it isn't working and pray scriptures over our mate and ourself to work on having a healthy relationship before immediately jumping into a divorce. The final decision must be made up by the individual and God. He must choose whether to stay in the relationship and work on issues and be willing to forgive and forget or deicide its time to let go and move on. At any rate it is truely a hard decision to make. I pray all those considering this step will take the time and think it through before the final decision is made.

What Are My Choices?

I have many customers requesting custom orders for aprons but not sure what style they want. I have a few choices to help them in there selection of their apron.

The chef apron is a classic bib apron with ties around the neck and below the waist ties. My aprons are a standard one size fits most. I can lengthen them or shorten them and also widen them too.

The BBQ apron is my typical man's apron I created which is trimmed with bias tape and has 3 large wrap around pockets. It is wider and longer than the chef apron. This apron is a favorite for many customers for grilling.

For a little flirty fun I have created the heart apron, its my own style and makes a girl feel feminine and pretty.

My retro apron is trimmed with rick rack and two toned colors. One color for the apron and an accent color for the ties and pockets.

Halter aprons are almost like a dress, some are fully reversable too. They are the perfect apron for a summer BBQ or for a hostessing a party.

For a very traditional apron and those who want to keep more of their clothes clean I have a cobbler apron. This apron has a full front and back and ties at the sides. It also has a double pocket in the front.

I have designed a fun party apron for those costume parties or those intimate parties of two.

As you see I have many apron choices for you to choose from. These aprons can be altered for your special needs and also if you would like a certain fabric print I will try my hardest to find it.
