We got a Wii

My husband decided to buy us a wii on Friday. We got the sports version. It's so much fun. We had some of the grandkids over and they just had a blast. At first they thought Nana and Papa are too old for one. Then when we played with them they realized that we were not too old. Kids are so funny.

Wii is the only game my husband and I even considered buying because its the only game that you are actively involved and not just sitting on your bottom. I bowled with 3 of my gradkids from 11-7. Wii makes you feel like you are right at the bowling alley. All the games are so fun and you can get physically exhausted from playing. Wii is a great family game and I would recommend it to anyone you has children or grandkids. Heck tonight, only adults are home and we are still playing.

New Project

I have a new custom order from my Zumba instructor to make finger flags. This project will be for 30 finger flags in various colors to use while dancing in our Zumba class. This cute little flags can be used also by children to dance around the house, at church or where ever. They are the perfect size to fit in your purse to use where ever. They are the size of a hankie, 10 X10 and have a loop for your finger so you can wave it. For those who attend church will the freedom to worship they can be used at church. After I finish the project I will be including some in my shop.

2 New Blankets

Last night I just finished making two more lap blankets. These can be worn on your shoulders to keep you warm like a shawl or wear it on your lap to keep your legs warm.

My blankets are a form of encouragement for the wearer. They have been prayed over by my prayer team and have positive word affirmations on them. Great for gift giving or keeping for your self.

Purple blanket with the positive word "Strength"

Pink blanket with the positive word "Hope." Pink is the nationally known color for hope for breast cancer survivors and awareness.

15 Bean Soup Recipe

Recipe makes 10 servings

Ingredients
1 (1 lb) bag of regular 15 bean soup mix or Cajun 15 bean soup mix

1 large onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 (15-30 ounce) can whole tomatoes, crushed
3 stalks celery leaves, included chopped
2-3 ham hocks, with meat still on it or 1 ham bone, with meat still on it
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried rosemary (crush with fingertips before adding this releases the flavor)
1 teaspoon black pepper
salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 chicken bouillon cubes

Directions
1 Wash the beans; put in large pot and cover with water. Bring to boil; stir and remove from heat. Cover and let sit 1 hour. After that hour, drain beans and set aside.
2 Add oil to pot. Sauté your ham hocks, onion, and celery until tender.
3 Next add garlic and sauté 2 minutes more.
4 Add your beans and cover with water (about 2 inches over top of beans).
5 Add tomatoes with the juice, parsley, rosemary, black pepper, bouillon cubes, and about 1 teaspoon of salt to start with.
6 Mix well. Bring to boil; stir, reduce heat cover and simmer for 2 to 21/2 hours or until all the sizes of the beans are tender.
7 Keep watching it and stirring it every once in a while. You may need to add more water; you want it to keep a consistency a little thicker than a soup.
8 Taste it after it cooks--you may need more salt or pepper.
9 During the last 15 minutes of cooking, add the flavor package that comes with the beans.
10 Serve by itself or over rice.

Okay here are my notes about this recipe. I don't use ham hocks or ham, I use turkey Italian Sausage, leave out the bouillon (adds too much sodium)
You can leave out the can tomatoes, I've had it with and without them and both ways taste good. You don't need the oil if you don't brown the meat or the celery, (which can be omitted.) I also don't use the seasoning package too much sodium.

New Vintage Halter Apron

I just love vintage sheets and the cute designs on them. So I decided to make a darling halter apron with some sheets. I made a totally reversible apron that is as cute on the front side as the back side. Frankly, I can't even tell which is the front or back. LOL This is how it turned out.

Bust here is Navy with flowers, skirt turquoise blue daisies and light blue waistband.

This is the reverse side with the Turquoise blue daisies on the bust and the navy and flower on the skirt. The waist band is the same light blue.

It's waiting for a home at my shop.
