Thirtyfive Years Ago Today!

Thirtyfive years ago today I married my best friend, that is my closest male friend.  I meet my love from my best girlfriend who lived next door at 15.  My love was my girlfriend's brother-in-law, so we all kept it in the family.  The only friend from those years I still see is this girlfriend and her family. We all hung around together and have so many memories when we were just kids. So actually I've known my husband for a total of  39yrs.

There so so many funny memories of those years, like how he made my girlfriend and I pay for gas just to go anywhere and then gas was cheap.  We each had to give him a $1 to take us to the gas station for cigarettes.   How about all the times we, several of our friends, and my gf dad took us camping, and one time we got stuck on the railroad tracks and a train was coming.  How about the time I stood him up when he arrived to take me on a date in his nice red '64 mustang, just because I didn't want to go out with him that day.  We were so mean at times to each other, but not really,  just occasionally. At times he acted like my big brother rather than a boyfriend, and that got on my nerves. jk!

We also spent many days car pooling together as we worked at the amusement park called Six Flags over Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA.  I remember when he came back home from TX, when he was in the Army, for his sister's back surgery and we went everywhere together.  I even gave him a couple of  little trinkets of mine so he wouldn't forget me when he went into the Army.  I guess he never forgot me.  Hehe.

We have 3 wonderful children, 8 grandkids and 1 great granddaughter.  And I still love this man, even more than I did when I first married him.  We renewed our wedding vows on our 15th anniversary, with family and friends as they were not able to be there for the orginial wedding.

Our first date was at Disneyland in California, with his brother's family and now for our 35th anniversary we will be going to Disneyworld for the first time in Florida with our daughter's family.  You think we never do anything alone but we do, since all the kids are grown we have lots of time alone.  Now we enjoy spending times with the family.  The best times are though  with one family at a time.

I tell people all the time if you can't marry your best friend who can you marry.  Obviously it has worked since we are married for 35yrs today.
