Summer Fun with my new creation just for me!

An up coming birthday party inspired me to make myself an apron. I am one of the world's messiest cooks around. I wanted to look good for the party so I needed a cute apron. I decided to make a halter apron because its really hot here 103. Aprons need not be drab but can be cute for the hostess. I tried to think of matching my clothes to an apron but I didn't have any fabric to go with the outfit I wanted to wear. Hum, imagine that.

I decided to find cute appealing fabric and just make something I liked and then find some outfit to go with it. Boy, that was much easier.

My apron I decided on was made from scraps of fabric I had left over, even from an old shower curtain I once used. So I have vintage fabric and new fabric. My reversible apron will give me two different looks for what ever mood I'm in.

Here are some halter aprons in my shop.

I also take custom orders for those special occasions or special requests.

Elton John Eat Your Heart Out!

Today we had to make another run to the party store. Of course my grandkids found something else they had to try on "glasses"!

Elton John was famous for his music but also his many pairs of funny and silly glasses. Well, my two grandkids had the pick of the litter sort of speak.

So here are their cute finds. There are too many to post so here are the best of the best. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Christian as guitar hero!

Lovely pretty pink lady!

The bat as Christian calls them and the smart teacher!

The ice cream man!

Swan Lake!

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! I thought they reminded me of Wally's eyes, the little robot.

Cat Woman Hisss!

Red flames of fire!

Sending you some love and kisses!

This is my favorite Elton's song! Perfect for the event.

Fun Party Shopping

Shopping with children can be a chore but when you turn it into a fun adventure its more fun than a problem.

Since we had to go to the party store for the up coming birthday, I decided to let my grandkids try on some costumes so they would behave and not cause me any problems.

LaRyn's favorite character to dress up is a kitty. She tried on several different cat masks.

Christian insisted he was a cheetah in this costume.

One of Christian's favorite characters is a pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

They had lots of fun trying on costumes and deciding what they could be. Since I don't celebrate Halloween, I decided to have a costume party for the October birthday. It sounds like too much fun. I hope everyone wants to participate including the parents.

Father's Day!

Father's Day is a great way to honor our fathers. Mine has since passed on and since we didn't have a good relationship I don't think about him much. But my husband has been a wonderful father, a man of character and a great example to our children.

This Father's Day was a busy day with 2 of my children coming to visit and 7 of my grand kids made it quite an eventful day. It seems children can all get along as no one touches an another and and keeps to themselves. Did that happen of course not, kids wouldn't be kids if they didn't cause a commotion.

My oldest daughter came and made her father's favorite German Chocolate cake with coconut frosting. She in listed her sister's son to help her make the cake. She had Christian put the eggs in the batter and he put the eggs shell in all in the cake. Of course she took the shells out before baking.

The children played on the "mini trampoline", I bought just for the grandkids this weekend, the swimming pool, swinging, and digging in the dirt. Mally's favorite part of play was the trampoline.

Some of us choose to go to the Irish festival since we are 1/2 Irish and wanted to see what was going on. There was vendors everywhere, and Gaelic dancing, Spanish dancers and Irish bagpipes. My husband's favorite part was the bagpipes which he has informed me that he wants at his funeral.

My husband went along for the ride, he's such a good sport. I'm sure his favorite thing to do was to go golfing on Friday and watch it on TV. Boy, has he become a golf fanatic, but love him anyways.

Casa de Fruta

Part of my trip to California included a trip to Casa de Fruta in Hollester. This was a fancy fruit shop with gourmet fruits, vegetables and candies, and mini amusement park. The rides where closed because it was a weekday but we had fun anyways. My brother, Jim, and his family took me to this lovely place.

The Venetian Carousel is so beautiful it was too bad it was the boys couldn't ride on it.

There was even a Casa De Wine shop for wine tasting and del lunches. It has such a beautiful fountain.

In the caboose are my brother's his two sons, Sam, top and Joe in the middle. Sonia, my sister-in-law and I are on the ends.

Divorce is it an option?

So many people have an opinion on whether or not one can get a divorce if they are a Christian. My opinion is yes they can. I do take marriage very seriously as I have been married 34 yrs to a wonderful man. Was every day of our marriage wedded bliss? No, of course not but we have strived to put God first and to constantly work on our marriage.

I've researched about divorce more readily because of family members who are debating this issue. In the bible it quotes that there are reasons that God can understand a person wanting to divorce. One was for infidelity and the other for abuse.

I Corthians 5:11 You are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people.
Here is where I see that divorce is acceptable. When a spouse is involved in sexual sins, abusive, a drunkard, or drug addict.

Growing up with an alcoholic abusive father was never easy and in fact very scary. I prayed and I prayed and so did my mother that my father would change but little did I know that in order for a person to change they have to want it too. All the prayers in the world can not change man's own will. God gave us a will and so we have free choice and we must at times accept that in order for a person to change he must want to do it too.

Does that mean we are to stop praying, no. We continue to pray and hope that some day that the person's heart will soften so God can work on them.

Saying all this because I feel too many people fall back into the idea because we are Christians we must accept bad behavior and stay in marriages that are painful, abusive and destructive, or stay because of children. I feel staying for the children isn't a good reason. If there is constant fighting and bickering what does that teach the children and how does that help them? Children need a home where there is love and peace and respect for each other and not badgering, belittling, arguing and fighting.

I'm thankful that in today's society we have Domestic Violence for the abused. I say abused because many men are abused just like the women are, its just few cases. Abuse comes in many forms; its not all physical its also mental, verbal and emotional abuse as well. In some marriages I see wives verbally belittle their husbands and then they wonder why their marriage doesn't work. Marriage is not 50-50 but its where each person must give 100% of themselves to make it work.

Yes, God hates divorce but he allows it in certain circumstances too.
For I hate divorce!” says the Lord, the God of Israel Mal. 2:16

Suppose a man marries a woman but she does not please him. Having discovered something wrong with her, he writes her a letter of divorce, hands it to her, and sends her away from his house. When she leaves his house, she is free to marry another man Deu. 24:1,2
(This above passage was a law given by Moses)
Jesus said: “You have heard the law that says, ‘A man can divorce his wife by merely giving her a written notice of divorce.’ But I say that a man who divorces his wife, unless she has been unfaithful, causes her to commit adultery. Matt. 5:31
There are six things the Lord hates—
no, seven things he detests:
haughty eyes (pride),
a lying tongue,
hands that kill the innocent,
a heart that plots evil,
feet that race to do wrong,
a false witness who pours out lies,
a person who sows discord in a family. Proverbs 6:16-19

Here we see that God hates other things besides divorce. So many people tell me that God only hates divorce and that is not true. The only unpardonable sin is blasmphemy against the Holy Spirit. All other sins are forgivible.

Matthew 12:31-32 says, "And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
In life we must make our choices wisely, and we must think things through before we marry. When we are already in a bad marriage we need to go to counseling when it isn't working and pray scriptures over our mate and ourself to work on having a healthy relationship before immediately jumping into a divorce. The final decision must be made up by the individual and God. He must choose whether to stay in the relationship and work on issues and be willing to forgive and forget or deicide its time to let go and move on. At any rate it is truely a hard decision to make. I pray all those considering this step will take the time and think it through before the final decision is made.

Hello Kitty

The other day my son-in-law picked me up a kitty from the shelter. Actually, Oscar, my cat isn't a kitty but a full grown 7 yrs. Oscar is a black domestic medium hair cat. In fact he's kind of large for a cat and reminds me of a small dog. Oscar is quite tall and long compared to an average cat. He's bigger than my last cat and he was large.

Max, my previous cat, was a fat cat because of an digestive problems. Max never could tell when he was full and would eat himself sick. I lost Max to being malled by another animal, as I live out in the country. It was a very sad experience. This was very hard on the grandkids as they were very attached to him, in fact Max used to belong to two of my gradkids. Max was a gray tabby short hair. I had inherited Max from my daughter because she went to Germany and couldn't take him with her. The cat before Max was Sweet Pea, another gray short hair tabby but a female and she lived a long 15 yrs.

Oscar is wonderful cat, very laid back and friendly, and low maintenance. At first Oscar was very timid and hid all the time. Now he is getting used to his new family. Oscar thinks he's a kitten, when he cuddles with you he buries his head in you shirt or arm and licks and then kneads you with his paws like a kitten. I've decided to make Oscar a indoor cat to keep him safe.

Take time and save a cat from a shelter, they make great pets! Just make sure they are fixed before you bring one home. My son-in-law made the mistake of bringing home an non-neutered male cat and he sprayed every thing until he was fixed. Now that he is fixed he has settled down and is a good orange tabby named Tim.

Below is another oldie but goodie song that I love. And who doesn't like Tom Jones? What is more fitting than this song?
