The Annual Pizzelle Making is Over!

Just finished making 240 pizzelle's!  Whew, and are we exhausted.  Hopefully this will be all that is required this year.  My daughter, Simone, and I make these Italian cookies every year.  It's been part of our family tradition.  No we aren't even Italian.  My husband's mother started making these cookies when she was working for an Italian doctor and this was part of their family traditions.

My mother-in-law loved them so much that she added them to her family traditions too.  So now that my mother-in-law is too old the make them, it has become a tradition with my middle daughter and I.  This chore takes 2 hours with 2 people or 4 hours with one.  I'm so glad to have help.

The reason this takes so long is because they are made with a pizzelle press that makes only 2 at a time.  We have two presses, one is mine and the other is my mother-in-law's.  Now I only  hope this is enough to make my husband happy.  He loves them so much that we wants to have a lot around for snacking.  Sometimes we give some of them as gifts to neighbors and take them to Christmas parties too.

  1. YUMMY! I have a pizzelle maker that has never been out of the box. My mother makes so many I haven't needed to make my own. =) I love them!!!!

Maybe I will this year though...

  2. Great Anita. You should try it too. What flavors does your mother make? I only make vanilla but my MIL used to make anise, lemon, and others but can't remember what other kinds.
